About Cass Nelson-Dooley, M.S.
Cass Nelson-Dooley, M.S. served as a Medical Education Specialist for almost eight years at Metametrix Clinical Laboratory and then Genova Diagnostics. She enjoys teaching, presenting, writing, and researching how to address the underlying causes of disease, not just the symptoms.
Cass co-authored, “Nutrient and Toxic Elements” in Laboratory Evaluations for Integrative and Functional Medicine and authored case studies in Case Studies in Integrative and Functional Medicine.
At the University of Georgia, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Ethnobotany and a Master of Science in Ethnopharmacology. Her passion was examining the scientific validation of folk medicines used commonly in rural Latin America. During her time as a research pharmacologist at UGA and AptoTec, Inc, Cass published in journals such as The Journal of Nutrition, Obesity Research, and Current Medicinal Chemistry.
She has presented to both national and international audiences on the topics of nutrition, laboratory tests, disease prevention, drug discovery research, and obesity and osteoporosis. Cass received the Fulbright Scholar award to study medicinal plants in Bocas del Toro, Panama.
She currently lives in the Atlanta area and enjoys Zydeco and Cajun dancing on the weekends, owing to her Louisiana roots. Her favorite food is dark chocolate.
